Mill at West Cleave. A well preserved mill structure with wheelpit. Very likely to be a tin mill, but status not proven.

A Medieval or later stamping mill situated on the right bank of the East Okement River at West Cleave. The structure is well preserved and has a wheelpit to the north, a loading or storage terrace to the east, a leat and embanked dressing floor to the west. It is one of the best preserved stamping mills in the Dartmoor area.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites. Map object based on this source.
