No mounds observed at this location, however there were the ruins of a stone building standing to about one metre high. The back wall is contiguous with the low north-south former field boundary shown on Ordnance Survey maps. The building is of two or three rooms arranged side by side, and is likely to be the ruins of a Medieval homestead.
Gerrard, H., 1996, Two Round Barrows on Horridge Moor Lying 550 Metres North of Challacombe Cross Forming Part of a Round Barrow Cemetery, 139581-2 (Un-published). SDV344296.
Site visit 14th November 1995. The round barrows survive as two mounds immediately adjacent to each other, and both are surrounded by now buried quarry ditches from which material was derived during their construction. The northernmost measures 24.4 metres in diameter and 1.1 metres high. A hollow in the centre of the mound suggests partial early excavation or robbing. The second mound lies 4 metres to the south-west of the first and survives as a circular mound with a diameter of 17.6 metres standing up to 0.9 metres high.

This monument includes two bowl barrows on Horridge Moor aligned north-east to south-west and lying in a prominent location on a south-east facing ridge overlooking the valley of Huntacott Water. These two barrows form part of a round barrow cemetery which includes at least seven mounds and a ring ditch. The bowl barrows survive as two mounds immediately adjacent to each other, and both are surrounded by now buried quarry ditches from which material was derived during their construction. The northernmost measures 24.4 metres in diameter and 1.1 metres high. A hollow in the centre of the mound suggests early part excavation or robbing. The second mound lies 4 metres to the south west of the first and survives as a circular mound with a diameter of 17.6 metres standing up to 0.9 metres high. The other barrows forming this barrow cemetery are the subject of separate schedulings. Round barrow cemeteries date to the Bronze Age (circa 2000-700 BC). Despite ploughing over the years, the barrow survives comparatively well and contains archaeological and environmental information relating to the mound and the surrounding landscape. This mound forms part of a round barrow cemetery which includes at least seven barrows and a ring ditch. Other details: Monument 28628. Map object based on this Source.
