Griffiths, D. M., 1983, 51 Bannawell Street, Tavistock (Correspondence). SDV350241.

Site visit on 22nd November 1983 to 51 Bannawell Street. Forms a terrace with nos 52 and 53. Two-storeyed mid 19th century houses, with cast iron balconies at first floor windows. The rows of tiles ranged round a granite block discovered by the owner had been removed at the time of the site visit, but they were possibly the setting for a metal stove. The tile was dated by John Allan to the late 18th or 19th century.

During digging out the basement floor at 51 Bannawell Street, to lower the floor level, a granite slab was uncovered, three feet by two and a half feet, surrounded by rows of plain red tiles. Several finds were also recovered.
