Young, E. H., 1928, Okehampton during the Civil War, 1642-46, 286 (Article in Serial). SDV346227.

There was a civil war skirmish, at Meldon Down, in 1642. (Meldon SX 5592). A cannon ball has been found on the site of the fight, but nothing further.
The site is located by most authorities on Sourton Down (see SX59SW/43).
