A sub--oval shaped pit, circa 13m long by 8m wide, is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Bearah, Ogwell. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping, although does coincide with an area of woodland on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map. The earthwork is interpreted as a post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pit which had likely passed out of use when the area was given over to woodland by the late 19th century. The earthwork is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover.
