The axminster and lyme regis light railway. The order for the railway was granted in 1899. Opened on 24/8/1903 and taken over by the lswr in 1907. The line was finally closed on 29/11/1965 (thomas).

The easternmost access route between Linhay Lane (Great Trill) and Abbey Gate follows the course of this railway. Any archaeological deposits along this route are likely to have been disturbed during the line's construction, however the
presence of Tuckers Mead Linhay (late 19th-century in date) should be noted on route at SY29299612.
