Toll house, now house. Circa 1830, with alterations and additions of late c20. Rubble, rendered with granite dressings, asbestos slate roof with gable end stack to left. Single-room plan, heated by left gable end stack, originally with narrow rear outshut, replaced by 2-storey c20 extension. Picturesque gothic style. Symmetrical front of 2 storeys, with central doorway, door with cover strips and chamfered granite jambs, hood on wooden brackets. Flanking windows in splays to left and right, both 2-light casements, to right with y-tracery and glazing bars, to left a c20 replacement with glazing bars, both with pointed arched and chamfered granite surrounds. The corners above are supported on large granite corbels. At first floor a single similar pointed arched window with c20 replacement casements. Left gable end has external stack, single pointed arched casement with glazing bars at ground floor to left of flue. Single-storey porch attached at junction with rear addition, with 4-centred arched door with raised fillets, pitched roof of porch continued along rear wing to left. Rear wing of 2 storeys and 3 windows, all pointed arched casements at first floor, casements at ground floor. Right gable end has quoin visible at junction to rear wing, pointed arched window with 6-pane sash at first floor left. Rear wing of 3 storeys because of slope of ground, has garage underneath, 3 windows at first floor and 2 at second floor. Interior rear wall of single room removed, fireplace at front with cambered granite head, front door blocked internally. Much altered with c20 rebuilding.(doe).

The Old Toll House, situated east of New Bridge on the A390 Callington-Tavistock Road, on the north side of the fork of the main road and a steep minor road going up the valley side, is an early 19th century two storey building of stone and rubble with rendered front and a slate roof. The ground floor has splayed corners cut under the first floor. Kanefsky, Doe 1976.
