Yealmpton parish church. St. Bartholomew. Earliest mention of the church in a charter c.1225. Nothing is probably left of the old building. Restored in 1849-52 (warner).

A church at yealmpton existed long before the conquest and probably before the creation of the diocese of crediton in 909 (reichel, 1928-1938).

Domesday book makes reference in 1086 to "the priests of the township" of elintona (yealmpton). The geldroll refers to "st. Mary of yealmpton" (page).

Church of st. Bartholomew. Rebuilt in 1850 by william butterfield. Tower of 1915. Coursed stone and ashlar, with freestone dressings. Slate roofs. Decorated style. Comprising:- nave, chancel, north and south aisles, north and south transepts, south porch and later west tower. Decorated windows with rectilinear, intersecting and foiled tracery.
