Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Building shown on 19th century map on the south side of 'Barley Market Street'. An alley runs south on the east side of the building (which later became Drake Road).

Circa 1830. Three storeys roughcast under a slate roof. Three sashes. First floor windows have glazing bars and cornice and console brackets. Ground floor windows have shutters. Central doorcase with cornice, pilasters, lamp and bracket, panelled reveals and six panelled door, the top two panels cut away and glazed.

The house on the corner of Drake Road and Pym Street was formerly the Crown Inn. The old road level and cobbled surface, the original level of Pym Street before Drake Road was built, can be seen at front door level.
