Full description
Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, SX65SE20 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV148120.
A ruined tollhouse of the Kingsbridge Trust lies in the fork of two minor roads 1/4 mile south of Modbury. The walls but not the roof are standing. It was built about 1827 to prevent evasion of the stoliford gate and to take traffic from Kingston and Bigbury (citing Kanefsky).

The walls are still standing. Recently cleared of rubbish.

Ruined toll house on Prigdon Hill. Thought to have been built in 1827 for the Kingsbridge and Dartmouth Turnpike to prevent evasion at the Stoliford Tollgate. It looks to take the form of a vernacular house; two storey, rectangular stone building. Now roofless and overgrown with no surviving doors or windows.
