Summary

Wymer describes mesolithic material from various collections from the general area of baggy point (see also ss44sw/13, /14). Items include cores, scrapers, microliths, microburins, burins, and were seen in n d athenaeum, exeter, oxford, plymouth, taunton and torquay museums (wymer).

Vis=2/10/1953 (os) area under grass, and none of the flints were patinated. Grinsell states that mesolithic material from this area is in taunton museum. He also states that two barbed and tanged arrowheads have been found at the above ngr - one is at exeter.

Hunter-gatherers of the late Mesolithic may not necessarily have had to travel large distances, but access to a coastal-upland ecotone may have provided sufficient resources to enable them to occupy sites on a much more permanent basis. Reference to microlith types from Baggy Point.
