Full description

Department of Environment, 1973, Ashburton, 7 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV300597.

No 7 (New Gospel Hall), and Nos. 9 and 11, East Street.
Nos. 7 and 9 early 19th century, No. 11 probably 18th century. All three storey. Three dormers. Part stucco, lined, part hung slates, painted. Each house with two flush frame sash windows, at first and second floors, with glazing bars. Eaves brackets. Nos. 7 and 9 wide eaves soffit. Wood shop fronts. No. 11, 6-panel door.

Three storeys, two windows wide. 19th century shop front in ground storey at right-hand end a doorway now belonging to No 9. Upper storey windows have 6-paned sashes in moulded architraves; cornices on consoles in second storey, bracketed sills in third storey. Deep bracketed eaves-cornice with panels between the brackets.
Annotation by the Historic Buildings Officer (04/03/1999) records that "cornice, wall fabric, window opening etc. to No. 9 visible in roof void. This suggests walls / roof to No. 9 have been raised."
