Full description

Department of Environment, 1973, Ashburton, 12 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV300597.

No 12, East Street. 18th century, three storey, stucco front, one flank pilaster remains, left. Two windows at first floor, flush framed with glazing bars. Three flush frame sash windows, at second floor, with glazing bars. Bracket eaves cornice. Six-panel door with fielded upper panels, and flat canopy on shaped brackets. Early 19th century wood shop front with central entrance.

House with shop. Mid or late 18th century. Rendered front, slate-hung rear walls (front and rear walls probably timber-framed). Slate roofs; rear section of front block with two roof spaces set at right-angles to front spans. Rendered chimney on left side-wall. Double depth front block; rear wing to left, linking up with wider back block.
Three storeys, two windows wide. Ground storey has mid or late 19th century shop front with flanking pilasters and entablature. To right, 18th century 6-panelled door, the two bottom panels flush; flat hood on shaped brackets. Upper storey windows have moulded architraves: two with 6-paned sashes in second storey, three with 8-paned sashes in third storey. Modillioned eaves-cornice.
