Full description

Griffiths, D. M., 12/10/1984, Preliminary Archaeological Assessment of the Alternative Routes of the Barnstaple Bypass, Site 14 (Un-published). SDV356775.

The site of a windmill is suggested by the field names. Site on one of the proposed alternative routes for Barnstaple bypass.


Unknown, 1838, Fremington Parish (Cartographic). SDV71013.

Tithe Map field no's 1127 & 1129 are shown as ' Windmill Moor' on the apportionment. Also field no 896 at SS516305.

No earthwork which could be associated with a windmill visible in any of these fields. On line of Barnstaple bypass. Pottery recovered from the field included 19th century china and a late 17th century North Devon sherd. Other details: Info from J Allan.
