Portmore Farm is documented in 1319 and there a number of early 18th century leases survive. The house is described in 1726 as a 'dwelling house of four ground rooms with chambers over'. It is recorded as North and South Portmore on the 19th century Tithe Map, a split that possibly existed in the 16th century.

A number of leases for portmore, dating from the early 18th century. By the early 19th century at least, there were two farms (and two farmhouses?), called north and south portmore on the tithe map. This split possibly existed in 16th century.(worksheet).
