Full description

Masson Phillips, E. N., 1943, Notes on Some Old Roadside Stones in South West Devon, 152, plate 22, fig. 13 (Article in Serial). SDV148816.

30. Yelverton. J3. Tavistock to Plymouth. Now removed. Once stood in the centre of a muddy patch on the green track referred to under No. 27.
Damaged and had lost its upper portion. Inscription; "...V P & D IX" (i.e.: Tavistock 5 miles Plymouth and Dock 9 miles). Dock founded c.1700 and not renamed Devonport until 1824, so this stone must be of late 18th century.
