Full description
Department of Environment, 15/06/1978, Exmouth, 5 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV131898.
No 10 and area railings, The Beacon. Stucco facade with eaves cornice and blocking course. Slate roof.2 storeys, basement and 3 attic dormers.3 windows, sashes, unbarred or with late 19th century glazing, outer windows of 3 lights. Good ionic porch. Door with fanlight. Rear elevation slate hung. Area has cast iron railings.

No 10 The Beacon, which boasts a decent porch and tripartite sash windows, was built with a rear wall in mud, which was slate hung, the raw cob beneath the slate-hanging proving that this was the finish from the outset, and not a secondary layer of protection added to roughcast or render. The mud rear wall of this house, exceptionally tall for local mud wall, has only recently come to light.
