Summary

Castle house, hillsborough road. Very early c19 detached stucco house with 2 storey front on garden side overlooking harbour. This is approximately 6 windows and has 3 projections, a large one in the centre and smaller ones right and left. At west end is a 1 storey wing with flat roof. Central 1 floor window is a 2-light casement with gothic bars. Almost all other windows have pointed heads and gothic glazing bars. On east end are 2 bays, one splayed and one square, the latter probably later. Road front is slate-hung and, owing to rise in ground 1 storey only. This house may be on the site of a fort known as ilfracombe castle and used in the civil war.(doe).

Castle house, hillsborough road. Very early c19 detached stucco house with 2 storey front on garden side overlooking harbour.
