Good late 17th or early 18th century detached two storey house of local ashlar masonry, with later 18th century doorway and interior. Known as 'Lower Knowle' in the 19th century, and 'The Knowle' in the early 20th century.

Wood, J., 1841, Plan of the Parish and Environs of Kingsbridge (Cartographic). SDV336838.

The Manor House is shown as 'Knowle House' on the 1841 plan of Kingsbridge. The house now known as Knowle house is shown but not labelled.

Good late 17th or early 18th century detached house of local ashlar masonry. Two storey, four windows to street, first floor band. Sash windows in wide frames, ground floor with glazing bars removed. Slate roof, hipped, fairly massive chimney. Later 18th century doorway and interior. George Montague, local naturalist died here 1815.
