A number of flakes struck from beach pebbles were found in the eroded surface of the slope above the sandhills at a point known as Pickwell Sedge Banks, due east of Black Rock. No date is assignable. The site is at the southern end of Woolacombe Warren below Woolacombe Down. The Down has produced a number of crude scrapers manufactured by the simple method of splitting a flint pebble in half, and removing a number of flakes at right angles to the striking platform. These may be early work.
