Full description

Department of Environment, 1972, Tiverton, 16 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV52494.

Probably early 19th century, two storey, one window each at each floor, with flush frames and glazing bars. Rendered and lined, some painted. Small eaves soffit. No 2, modern shop.

Terrace of small houses. Circa 1840s. Mass wall construction, the front elevation stuccoed and blocked out, rear elevation stone rubble; asbestos slate roof, gabled at ends; axial stacks with brick shafts. Each house is one room wide, two rooms deep.
Exterior: two storeys. Symmetrical 1:1:1:1-window front with shared doorway in the centre leading to Nos 6 and 8, and Nos 4 and 10 doors at the outer ends of the range. Sixteen-pane sash windows throughout with some replacements. No.10 has a possibly original four-panel door with fielded panels above and flush below. No.2 has a 20th century shop window. Rear elevation has segmental-headed attic dormers and some probably original small-pane casements. Interior not inspected but may retain features of interest.
