The largest, a conspicuous feature of the surrounding landscape, is T-shaped and measures 200 metres long, 10 metres wide and 2 metres deep. An adit drains its north end, and a reservoir, fed by a leat, served the top end of the openwork. To the west of this is a further openwork, 170 metres long, 10 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep (citing Riley, H., Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments in England Field Investigation, 23/01/1995).
