Full description

Fox, A., 1956, Amphora from Sprat Ridge (Correspondence). SDV342434.

An amphora was found on Sprat Ridge in the Taw/Torridge estuary in 1906. Of reddish brown fabric, height 15.5 inches, diameter at theshoulder 6.75 inches. Drawing and photographs in parish file. Correspondence by A. Fox with various authorities suggests a possible mediterranean origin. May date from the medieval or post medieval periods.
