Site visit 1st April 1999. Prospecting pits on the south-east slopes of Rippon Tor at SX75657470. Over the slopes of Rippon Tor within this monument there are series of prospecting pits excavated by tinners' in their search for tin. The grid reference given does not relate to any particular group and represents a notional centred point.

Prospecting pits for lode tin. The pits have silted and survive as shallow hollows 1-2 metres diameter with small heaps of spoil on the downhill side. The generally small number of pits in this area suggests the search for tin was unsuccessful in this location. Condition stable.
