A pit circa 27m across is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the east side of Bottle Hill.
A broad hollow on the south side of the pit is probably evidence of an access track to the pit from the road to the south.
The pit corresponds with a quarry depicted on a later 20th century map but not earlier maps.
The pit is therefore probably the remains of a quarry of early to mid-20th century date
