A line of four bomb craters extend from SX56945990 to SX57216010 across a fairly steep hillslope on Crownhill Down. Each is approximately 10 metres diameter and about 2.4 metres deep. The holes have sharply defined edges with a minimal but widespread scatter of spoil around the top. These craters are most probably the result of a World War II stick of bombs.

A roughly circular pit up to circa 10m across is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2013 on Crownhill Down, centred on circa SX57005995.
The earthwork is interpreted as a bomb crater of Second World War date, the second in a row of four extending in a line over circa 340m from circa SX56945989 in the south-west to SX57216010 in the north-east.
The pit remains visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2018.
