A cropmark up to 4m wide is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 crossing contours of the west-facing slopes south of Shaugh Prior village for circa 175m.
The mark was previously interpreted as evidence of a lynchet. However, the mark does not correspond with any identifiable earthwork features and its cross-contour alignment is not compatible with an interpretation as a lynchet.
The cropmark is interpreted as superficial in character and agricultural, not archaeological in origin.
