Summary

An area of medieval or later streamworks covering an area of 1.3 hectares in Deep Swincombe. An archaeological survey in 1988 recorded the streamworks comprising of upcast dumps of discarded gravel and small stone together with evidence for cutting into stream banks to get at the tin-bearing ground. No water channels were visible.

(15/07/1988) 1.3ha of streamworking, part of a much larger worked area extending up the valley to the S, examined in Deep Swincombe during RCHME survey of Sherberton Farm.
The workings consist of upcast dumps of discarded gravel and small stone together with evidence for cutting into stream banks to get at the tin-bearing ground. No water channels are visible in this lower part of the Deep Swincombe streamworks.
