Possible cairnfield on the bank of the West Dart river. This feature may be a natural geological phenomenon.

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, M. J. Fletcher (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(06/01/1988) The indicated site of the alleged cairnfield on the RCHM 1/10000 transcription (1985) lies along the bank of the West Dart River between SX 62817385 and SX 63137383.
The area is occupied by a belt of densely packed large earthfast boulders which have been deposited by the river. A row of in-line boulders on the north side is almost certainly the result of limited stone clearance activity. There is no evidence of cairns in this area.
To the north and west on the wide floodplain there is a fairly heavy scatter of deposited earthfast boulders, here stone pits and split stone indicates limited granite extraction activity. (RCHME AP not available for inspection).
