Summary

Fragmentary remains of a bronze age field system lie in unenclosed moorland on the moderate north-facing slope of Down Ridge. Three irregular enclosures formed by stoney banks around 0.8 metres wide and 0.3 metres high are visible attached to the south side of the Venford Reave (MDV15078).

  • SHINE: Part of the Dartmeet parallel reave system east of Down Ridge. Earthworks and walling remains of a Bronze Age field system adjoining the Venford Reave, with numerous hut circles, enclosures, cairns and a later medieval field system

Open settlement visible, consisting of seven hut circles, including one incorporated into a wall at SX64807213. There are fragments of what may have been three other hut circles at SX64817211.

The fragmentary remains of a bronze age field system lie in unenclosed moorland on the moderate north-facing slope of Down Ridge 800 metres north-east of Deep Swincombe. Three irregular enclosures formed by stoney banks around 0.8 metres wide and 0.3 metres high are visible attached to the south side of the Venford Reave (MDV15078). There is no trace of any associated settlement. Antiquity Model surveyed at 1:10000.
