Summary

Northern of three or four prehistoric enclosures at Zeal Hill East with one internal hut circle (Butler). This site is on the local list of Nationally Important Dartmoor sites.

(02/05/1950) Enclosure and hut circle. The remains of the walls are approximately 0.3m high and are fragmentary, consisting of gorse and turf-covered stones. A possible entrance exists at SX67736398.

(18/07/1977) Enclosure with one hut circle. East of the enclosures are about six associated fields, each approx 40.0 meters by 15.0 meters east-west, centred at SX67836400.

Pound A has hut circle 1 built into its perimeter. The enclosure is roughly circular with walls 0.5 meters high and 2.0 meters wide which are rather overgrown. The enclosure measures 30.0 meters (north-south) and 43.0 meters (east-west). Other details: Sketch plan included.

The detached northern enclosure at 'Zeal Hill East' with one hut circle on the north-western boundary. The enclosure seems to have had an extension to the east but the walls fade away on the steeper slopes here.
