(11/07/1998) SX 53908448 to SX 52568185. A leat, still flowing, takes water from the left bank of the Walla Brook to feed Wheal Jewell Reservoir. The leat averages 1.7m wide and 0.7m deep and has recently been dredged. The course of this feature has been moved several times as witnessed by the now abandoned channels between SX 53868449 and SX 53548428 also SX 52548291 and SX 52658253. The latter channel relates to the early history of the leat when it terminated abruptly on the E slope of Black Hill and flowed some 35m down a steep incline to join the Reddaford leat.
The flow of this leat was formerly augmented by that of another (SX 58 SW 69) which joined it at SX 52628322.
A leat is shown in the current position on every map edition since 1885.
