(09/02/1990) The cairn recorded by the Royal Commission (1985) at SX 63798458 is the largest of several hundred clearance cairns covering c.11 ha on the SE slope of Manga Hill.
Three lengths of unfinished walling lie within this area and several lines of cairns which presumably represent preliminary stone gathering for the construction of further walls.
These features probably date from the late C18th or early C19th when Teignhead farm was enclosed from open moorland. See also SX68SW/113.
