Summary
A well-defined V-shaped gulley about 62m long running roughly south to north on the moderate north-facing slope of Metheral Hill overlooking Small Brook. The feature measures on average 7.5m wide at top and a maximum of 2.1m deep. An amorphous bank of spoil, now tunnelled by badgers, lies on the eastern lip of the working and measures roughly 5.0m wide and 0.4m high. A shallow, irregular depression resembling a small reservoir lies at the higher, southern end of the trench. There is no trace of a leat to feed this feature which measures approximately 5.5m diameter and 0.5m deep.
