Full description

Laithwaite, M., 1973, Houses in Seaton and neighbourhood (Un-published). SDV366950.

Site visit 11th August 1973. There is no certain evidence that the house is older than the late 16th century but it is possible that it could have originated in the medieval period and has been rebuilt in stages. It has different periods of roofing, both of which replaced something earlier. The roof at the upper end is suggested to be late 16th-17th century and that at the lower level, 17th or 18th century. The room at the lower end has been extended perhaps from a buttery or service room to become a kitchen, with a fireplace with a large oven.
