The cottage is shown on the western side of the bridge with a barrier, marked as Toll Gate, across the entrance to the bridge.

Bridge Cottage, Seaton Road. Cottage, former toll house. 1877. Toll house to the adjacent Axmouth Bridge designed by Phillip Brannon. Small single storey. Built of mass concrete.

The toll cottage, like the bridge which was designed by Philip Brannon, was built of concrete. The bridge opened in 1877 and the toll for pedestrians was one penny. The toll was abolished in 1907.
