This monument includes a bowl barrow situated on a prominent upland ridge overlooking the valley of a tributary to the River Carey and with commanding views to both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. The monument survives as a circular mound which measures 35 metres in diameter and 1.1 metres high. The mound is surrounded by an outer quarry ditch from which material to construct the mound was derived. This survives as a buried feature measuring approximately 3 metres wide. Bowl barrows are funerary monuments dating from the Late Neolithic period to the Late Bronze Age between 2400-1500 BC. This bowl barrow survives well despite reduction in its height through cultivation and will contain archaeological information relating to its construction and use as well as evidence about the local environment in the prehistoric period. Other details: Monument 34263.
