(05/02/1992) Centred SX 66118515. Approximately 2.2ha of streamworking remains on both banks of the Longstone Brook between SX 66218537 and SX 66098491. The deepened stream bed is flanked by the characteristic parallel mounds of upcast stones and boulders. The floodplain on both sides of the workings has been sharply cut back in the search for further alluvial deposits. This has resulted in scraps up to 3.0m high marking the limit of exploitation.
While the surveyed area of these workings is relatively well-preserved both ends soon become obscured by recently developed bogs.
These workings principally used water from Longstone Brook to sort the metalliferous deposits, though at least two leats (SX 68 NE 155 and 166) augmented the supply. A small reservoir (SX 68 NE 156) held water for a relatively dry area.
