Enclosure consisting of a single line of earthfast slabs; rather less impressive than the two enclosures to the south. This enclosure may have never been completed on the uphill (eastern) side. This enclosure may be associated with hut circle positioned just to the east (PRN 79069). Two other hut circles lie just to the north-east of the enclosure, which may be associated. Newman, P., 2018, The Upper Erme Valley, Dartmoor National Park, Devon: An Archaeological Survey, Appendix 1 (Report - Survey). SDV362921.

A small enclosure on Harford Moor, 130 metres east of the River Erme, which is part of a settlement containing other enclosures and nine hut circles (MDV 4291). The turf-covered stony walls are fragmentary and spread to 1.7 metres and mostly less than 0.2 metres high, but it may originally have formed a 40 metre by 30 metre D-shaped enclosure and several slabs and boulders remain in situ. It is uncertain whether the wall ever made contact with either of the nearby hut circles.

Various, 2018-2020, PALs Condition Recording forms, UE-27 (Worksheet). SDV362781.

(10/02/2019) Recorded by volunteer condition assessor. Condition assessed as very good. The site is on open grass land not crossed by any major paths. The grass is a fine quality attractive to livestock. Some patches of reed/grass have accumulated where water pools in the interior of the houses and in the exterior ‘drip gullies’ and moss is growing over the stones of the walls. It has remained largely unchanged for at least the last ten years.

Photographs taken in February 2019.
