HER Number:MDV28567
Name:FIELD SYSTEM in the Parish of Shaugh Prior

Summary

Vis=3/9/1980 (os). Much of the north slope at the end of the saddlesborough spur is heavily strewn with stone but within one hectare, there appears to be an attempt at clearance, or the defining of boundaries, which was subsequently abandoned. Three or four isolated lengths of walling are aligned with the slope but they are widely spaced and form no cohesive pattern. They vary in length from 10m to 30m and average 1m wide and 0.4m high, using large stones but no orthostats, at a distance of 20m they merge with the surrounding clitter. The walls are relatively insignificant but are presumably associated with the local settlements (os).
