(24/04/1980) SX 60417808. On a steep E slope within a small tin-streaming area is the scant remains of a probable tinner's hut. The building measures 6.3m by 2.3m internally, and is subdivided. The coursed walling of large stone is 0.7m thick, and up to 0.7m high in part (see ground photograph), with a central entrance on the SW side. Found during field investigation.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 on MSD. Streaming area shown on AO 6".

(20/07/1989) At SX 60417808. Set in 1.2ha of deep streamworking channels (SX 67 NW 254) on a steep SE moorland slope is a rectangular tinner's hut. It measures 5.4m NW-SE and 2.3m NE-SW, internally. The crude boulder walls are at maximum, 0.8m high and 0.8m wide. The NE wall appears to be cut into a pile of tinworking debris to a depth of 0.5m. Two upright granite slabs 0.4m high divide the building into two rooms, 2.3m by 2.3m at the NW end and 3.1 by 2.3m in the SE. Access is gained to the SE room via a central entrance in the SW wall. The NW room is partially filled by collapsed wall material and there is a possible fireplace in the NW wall partly concealed by debris.
Newman, P., 2004, Merrivale Range Baseline Condition Survey (Report - Survey). SDV346874.
(10/08/2004) As described in 1989. Condition is stable.
