(the apparent penannular form of this ring ditch is deceptive. I think it has been cut by a later linear feature (?pipe trench). It is not a henge (fmg).

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A large ring ditch or circular enclosure of probable later prehistoric to Roman date was visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark of a ditch near the tip of a south-west facing spur to the south-west of Martinsfield Farm, Broad Clyst. The cropmark measured up to circa 4 metres in width, enclosing an area approximately 36 metres in diameter. The cropmark was broken in its north-east quadrant by the cropmark of a later, probably post medieval field boundary bank. A second break to the south-east around 4 metres wide might be evidence of an entrance. Cropmarks of periglacial frost cracking in the underlying sandstone make the identification of internal features difficult and none were identified with any confidence.
Many of the aerial photographs consulted by the survey are copies of DAPs held by the Historic England Archive. In some cases these have been recorded as separate sources. This is because variations in the way the prints have been processed could result in images on which archaeological features are visible to a greater or lesser degree.
