An earthwork of a sub-oval pit, circa 18m long by 14m wide, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
The earthwork pit corresponds with an area of vegetation depicted on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is recorded as ‘Waste’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment (land parcel 168). It is interpreted as the location of the 17th century tin mine of Holte Gaule North.
