Rectangular single ditched enclosure about 50m x 30m, recorded as cropmark in july 1984 by f. Griffith. Vis=3/9/1987 (robinson), 7/9/1987 (griffith and robinson). Site lies on moderately steep se slope. Upper side enclosure coincides with faint bank but this may be an old field boundary (dprfp). Vis=17/1/1994 (griffith) site stable under grass, but may be ploughed soon. A tree planting scheme amended to avoid the enclosure. The dark patch in se corner of enclosure may well be a spring: still a very wet area of the field (griffith).
Ordnance Survey, 1984, OS/84170, OS/84170 V 088-089 04-JUL-1984 (Aerial Photograph). SDV352491.
A rectilinear compartmentalised dark cropmark is visible.
Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.
The enclosure is visible as a dark cropmark more clearly on vertical aerial photographs taken in 1984 than on oblique aerial photographs taken a week later in the same year. It is interpreted as a later prehistoric ditched enclosure with an internal division. Two dark irregular cropmarks of approximately 5 metres across are visible in the south-west, and although these could be infilled pits or hollows there are additional dark irregular marks and these may all be of natural origin.
