Name:Cairn at southern end of stone row, Ugborough Moor

Summary

Cairn (10.5 metres in diameter) at the head (southern end) of the double stone rows (MDV2890). Hollowed out and now only 0.3 metres high, this was once surrounded by a ring of tall stones outside its base, like the Butterdon Hill cairn. One still survives on the western margin earth fast at one end, one or two are buried and another lies a short distance away. The tops of small slabs showing through the turf within the mound are arranged in at least two inner concentric rings.

(1974) Not prominent, now being shapeless and overgrown. Has retaining circle with only two stones remaining.

Encircled cairn. Ring of orthostats 11m diameter, around cairn 8m in diameter and 0.4m high. Only three stones of the ring remain. Aligned west of centre of single stone row.
