Hall, T. M., 1890, On Barum Tobacco-Pipes and North Devon Clays, 320 (Article in Serial). SDV88059.

Elephant remains were found in 1844, 1870 and 1871 at a considerable depth in the clay pits on the site of what is now Pulchrass Street.
