Carbonell, B. M. H., 1928, Notes on the history of the parishes of Nymet Tracy, alias Bow, with Broad Nymet, 301-2 (Article in Serial). SDV44636.

'Unnes Barrow', Bow. Site of a large barrow in field adjoining the main Bow to Coleford road close to Blackpool Cross. Ploughed down in the early 19C & mentioned in a charter of AD739.

An Anglo-Saxon charter of AD739 giving the boundaries of twenty hides of land granted by King Ethelred of Wessex to Bishop Forthere of Sherborne mentions 'Unna's Barrow' which lay formerly in the field behind Appledore Cottages. This barrow was ploughed out at the beginning of the 20C but its outline was still visible after ploughing until c1980.
