A rectilinear ditched enclosure potentially of late prehistoric to Roman date was partially visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark on a south-west facing spur to the west of Thorverton.
The cropmark was very narrow, measuring from circa 0.5 metres wide to 1.5 metres wide. The western edge of the enclosure was not visible, possibly obscured by the line of a modern field boundary, or by a change in land use west of the boundary where the ground falls away more sharply to a stream. The visible extent of the cropmark defined an enclosed area at least circa 40 by 30 metres in size.
