Numerous low earthen field banks, many with ditches on one side, lie on open moorland on the lower south-facing slopes of Crownhill Down. They are on average spread to 1.8 metres wide and are up to 0.7 metres high. None have been excavated but they are similar in form to other banks which have a Medieval origin. This part of the moor is covered by stands of dense mature gorse obscuring many of the features. Other details: NMR Number SX55NE22. Map object based on this Source.

A linear hollow is visible as an earthwork.

A linear hollow is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2013 crossing Crownhill Down from south-east to north-west. The earthwork was previously recorded as a bank from aerial photographs of the 1940s, but the lidar derived images indicate that the feature is a negative rather than positive earthwork.
The visible earthwork probably corresponds with a footpath or trackway of probable post-medieval to 20th century date, depicted on maps from the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map into the second half of the 20th century.
The feature was not transcribed by the survey.
