Full description

FLETCHER, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV10257.

The 4 barrows at bickleigh brake were surveyed by eh at 1:1000 in december 2001. The most southerly barrow c is described as a low spread up to 16.8m across x 0.3m-0.4m high with no visible ditch. It has been heavily ploughed and is composed of soil with small stones + white quartz. The barrow lies off the crest of the s-facing hill slope + visible on 1944 aph (fletcher).

Vis=est -/-/1999 (ancient monuments) one of 4 bowl barrows at bickleigh brake 540m sw of bickleigh, forming part of a linear round barrow cemetery.

Southernmost barrow c.0.5m high and varies in diam between 20.7m and 23m. Composed of orange sandy clay, with many pieces of slate + quartz on its surface. Outer ditch survives as buried feature 2.5m wide (am).
